HOMEOPATHY TRAINING

It takes a minimum of three years full-time study or equivalent to qualify as a professional homeopath. Indeed, many find that this provides the basics: time, experience and more study fill this out, and most courses run over four years. But very few homeopaths ever think they have finally arrived. There is nearly always something to learn.

Besides being a powerful system of medicine, homeopathy instils a study, and an appreciation and love, of human nature and character. Colleges teaching the subject need to assure themselves that students have the necessary stability and life-experience to persevere. Few homeopaths make fortunes from their profession. Often it is a labour of love, inspired by the healing reactions from patients.

Colleges
In the UK most of the colleges teaching homeopathy are in England, but for non-medically qualified students in Scotland there are at present two places to learn.

The Scottish College of Homeopathy holds courses in Glasgow.
Visit www.homoeopathy-scotland.co.uk or ring Margaret Roy for a prospectus on 01899-220931 or 01698 283653. The Scottish College of Homeopathy also runs a correspondence course for those interested: from this students advance into the main course which requires attendance at College if they wish to gain a professional qualification

The Lakeland College runs courses in Edinburgh. Visit www.thelakelandcollege.co.uk

On completion of these courses, students can take the examinations of the Society of Homeopaths with a view to being awarded licensed membership with the Society. On successful completion of the examination process, students will be able to work towards full registration with the Society of Homeopaths (RSHom). RSHom is the most widely recognized qualification within the field of professional homeopathy.

In Scotland, the Scottish Association for Professional Homeopaths enables professional homeopaths working in Scotland to meet together and improve their knowledge and ability. You do not need to be a member of another professional organization to join the Scottish Association for Professional Homeopaths, but you must be a professional homeopath in practice in Scotland, and undergo a registration procedure.
Ring the Association’s Secretary John Smith for details 01292-313290.

The Society of Homeopaths can be found at www.homeopathy-soh.org is also active in supporting its members in Scotland.

Both the Society of Homeopaths and The Scottish Association for Professional Homeopaths are working to raise professional standards and increase awareness of the important contribution that Homeopathy can make to Health.
